Rotary Foundation Announces $50 Million Donation to End Polio

A senior technology management executive, Shawn Broz serves as the managing director and CEO of Magellan Associates, a firm that provides Fortune 500 companies and other entities with actionable strategies and methodologies to meet business challenges and grow. In addition to his professional activities, Shawn Broz donates to The Rotary Foundation as a Paul Harris Fellow through The Las Vegas Rotary Foundation.

A global network committed to addressing humanitarian challenges, The Rotary Foundation recently announced it donated US$50 million in grants to bolster worldwide efforts to eliminate polio. The foundation has agreed to an annual two-to-one partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, whereby a total of $150 million will be donated each year. This year’s donation will provide polio vaccinations to up to 38.4 million children throughout Africa and the Middle East.

The announcement coincided with a major milestone in the effort to end polio: the global eradication of wild poliovirus type 3. This is only the third pathogen that causes human disease to ever be eradicated.

Kelley Broadband’s revenues increased dramatically during Shawn Broz’ first full year at the company’s helm; he also spearheaded Kelley’s acquisition by Mohave Cooperative Services (MCS Communications). When the acquisition was complete, Broz became CEO and GM of both companies, with full accountability for all elements of both companies’ operations. Under his leadership, MCS and Kelley vaulted to regional leadership in the cable and telecommunications industry. Shawn continued work in entertainment, gaming and hospitality industries when he joined Caesars Entertainment Corporation in 2013 as the IT Director of Integrated Marketing Products. He assumed responsibility for development and support of the company’s critical marketing products and operational data store for Caesars’ Total Rewards loyalty program, which experienced dramatic improvements in appeal and growth to 45 million members. At Caesars Entertainment Shawn also served as Director for all enterprise Technology Assurance IT support operations for Caesars’ gaming products, casino products, hospitality systems, hotel products, and marketing products. When not attending to his professional responsibilities, Shawn Broz enjoys several recreational activities, especially hiking, camping, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America. He also enthusiastically supports several national and local charities, including the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Olive Crest, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the American Cancer Society.
